Bit of a topic of interest for me. I wouldn't present this as "the actual fact" since it's a very debated topic in the bibliography, but even those who support the theory mostly stand on the side of the myth being inspired by later interpretations of the palace ruins, not from the palace itself, which stood over five centuries before the first records we have of the myth.
