@jostkobusch: The biggest lessons I’ve learned in the mountains came from my biggest mistakes. Kyrgyzstan is where I made many of them. A storm almost ripped my tent into a crevasse. I brought the wrong equipment and couldn’t melt water or cook. I even ended up riding an avalanche on my duffel bag. At the time, they felt like failures. Looking back, they became some of the most valuable experiences of my life. Those early expeditions shaped me as an alpinist and laid the foundation for everything I’m doing today. I’m back in Kyrgyzstan now, not to chase a summit, but to prepare for my ultimate objective: a winter solo ascent of Everest.
