🩸 Cloths or rags. Soft linen could be folded several times and held in place with a belt or girdle. The cloth didn't have to be inside the body. It could simply be pressed against the vulva by the pressure of the clothing and the belt. 🧺 Frequent changing and washing. Linen was valuable, so reusable cloths would be washed and reused. 👗 Layers of clothing. Long shifts and multiple skirts helped catch any leaks that got past the cloth. 🪑 Staying at home when possible. Not everyone could, of course, but during heavier days some women likely adjusted their activities.
