@yayi_teachers: SENATOR YAYI TO REMO MARKET LEADERS: "OGUN STATE MUST NOT BE HANDED TO THOSE DRIVEN BY PERSONAL INTERESTS" Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), while addressing the Iyalajes and Babalajes of Remoland during a consultation meeting at his Senatorial District Office in Ilaro, declared that Ogun State must not be entrusted to individuals whose political ambitions are driven by personal gain rather than the collective interest of the people. Speaking before the market leaders, Senator YAYI alleged that some political actors are motivated solely by access to the state's resources instead of genuine service. «"Some are driven by no other interest than personal gain, not the interest of the people of Ogun State. Their intention is clear. They don't mean well for our dear state. They are bitter. They are only looking for the state purse," he said.» The Senator recounted an encounter with a former governorship aspirant who, according to him, complained that YAYI had failed to fulfil certain promises and demanded reimbursement for campaign expenses allegedly incurred during a previous governorship bid, including both naira and dollar expenditures. The revelation drew audible reactions from the gathering. Senator YAYI explained that rather than responding immediately, he reflected before addressing the matter publicly. «"I visited you as a respected indigene of Ogun State who showed interest in governing this state because I believed you meant well. But I later discovered that it was all about personal gain. Asking me to refund your campaign expenses is insulting. I find it completely unacceptable."» His remarks were briefly interrupted as the Remo market women broke into a traditional song in their local dialect in appreciation and support. Continuing his address, Senator YAYI accused the individual of abandoning his political party for financial inducement. «"You left the party not because the party wronged you, but because you were offered money. You are not a party person. You simply want to cash in. You are just paid weakly for whatever you are doing. That is not service. That is not commitment to Ogun State."» He further warned that those seeking power for selfish reasons would only drain the state's resources instead of advancing meaningful development. On the legal and political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, Senator YAYI maintained that the law would prevail. According to him, recent judicial pronouncements indicate that anyone who was not a member of a political party by the stipulated date of 10 May cannot validly contest under that platform. «"We know when they joined, we know when they resigned, and we know when they made their announcements. We are waiting for them. They should buckle up."» He also criticised the current state of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arguing that the party remains deeply divided by unresolved leadership disputes. «"There are two factions of the party and none is fully recognised. They are still in court. As far as I am concerned, they have no functional political party today. All the drama is for public attention."» Reacting to reports that political opponents had instituted legal action against him, Senator YAYI expressed confidence that the cases would not succeed. «"They said they took me to court, and their leaders openly admitted they were behind it. They will come out of those court cases with nothing."» His declaration was met with loud responses of "Amen!" from the enthusiastic gathering. The consultation with the Remo market leadership formed part of Senator YAYI's ongoing engagement with critical stakeholders across Ogun West as momentum continues to build around his 2027 governorship aspiration.
