Somebody tested this. The pan will not get a proper coating again. Smooth vintage cast irons were casted differently. Without the texture. The seasoning won’t hold.

My mother collected and used cast iron from before I was born all the way to when we moved out of Ohio in 2022. This makes me cringe on a molecular level.
