He was appointed as the commander of the Iraqi Special Forces Brigade from 1985 until his execution in 1991. Bariq Al-Hajj Hanta's name became prominent during his command of one of the regiments of the 31st Brigade and later his command of the 66th Special Forces Brigade in the First Gulf War , especially during the operations of Taj Al-Ma'arik and the operations to liberate Al-Faw until the end of the war. After the end of the Iran-Iraq War , he became the commander of the Special Forces Division attached to the Gulf Forces Command.
