Get an education, learn how money and compound interest work, marry the right person, and STAY EMPLOYED

I had to acknowledge that I was not doing my best. That’s the hardest part for most people.

This! It’s truly a system. Born in rural S.C. on the dirt roads. “Fortunately” enough, the Army was my only way out. No one talked about college. I was able to travel to over 26 different countries, obtain a B.S. in Civil Engineering, which opened so many other doors. Of course, my grit and determination that I obtained from poverty helped!

I knew early on, like 3rd grade, that education would be my way out.

I worked with a woman whose parents were janitors at Boston University and so she actually got to go to BU for free because employees and their kids can go to the university for free if they meet admissions criteria. Technically all she had to do was be the kind of student they would academically admit 💡

And not just traditional education - you need to get educated about how life works outside of poverty.

I grew up in a poor family with parents that had no education. I have 3 degrees, and I’m about to start my doctorate; my husband is about to finish his third degree. My daughter attends a private language immersion daycare, ballet, soccer, and gymnastics. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and the cycles I’ve broken for her.

education and emotional regulation is huge. I stayed up until 1 am reading a chapter thinking I was prepping for the next day. Just to realize that I bought the wrong edition to the book. That sent me into rage but I know that will not do anything so I said it's ok I messed up but I will do the necessary steps to fix it. 😭😭 Breathe, Sleep, Eat and Read!!!!

And GO TO THERAPY. It is not an easy process & you will be alone a lot. Do not feel bad not giving them money. Cut off those who make backhanded “jokes”. It’s okay not to hang out at grandmas house anymore 🫶🏾🫶🏾. **born into a family of 5 , only HS grad (not even parents finished), only college grad, only military vet, only one without kids (average woman in my family has 3/5). 😂😂

THANK YOU ! I moved out of my city & try my best to get into other environments & finish college so I can earn more money. As well as kids I’m definitely wanting to send my future kids into after school of programs membership clubs for academic success & great friendships with well connected people.

Get an education then get a masters trust. Go for something that has real value: engineering, math, business, md, law. Those ones will pay well.

Education, no babies, no drugs/drinking, no criminal activity. Don’t fall in the materialistic trap. Grind! It’s hard and boring but pays off.

My baby is 5 and had a lady approach us about him playing youth lacrosse! She put the stick in his hand and my baby looked like a pro!

Heavy on #2 & #3 for my kids because I want them to do better than us in life! Private school. Tutoring. Instruments/music. Sports. Clubs. Etc. And when they start something they're not allowed to quit until the season/semester is over.
