i remember when i was younger my mom would often not have enough for extra things or treats and stuff so she would tell us before we left the house, “hoy no tengo para comprar ni dulce ni papitas ni nada, no me pidan en la tienda. para la otra les compro algo” and we never threw tantrums or begged for anything but my aunts and neighboors would often ask my mom if they could take us out with them grocery shopping or just for a little bit so she could get some rest and they would buy us a candy or ice cream or something but we never asked and they always told my mom THAT was the reason they like to bring us. We never asked, we never expected but they would buy us something and no matter what it was we always said thank you and took it with a smile.
