And then we go to Europe and are treated like scum of the earth. Then we hear "Americans are so untravelled". Why would we spend our limited time and money on that when we can travel our beautiful country in the same amount of time and less cost.

While in England a few years ago, had a cashier in Boots thank me for being nice and having a brief conversation while she rang me up. I was SO confused. Small talk is just what we do 🤣

I think this behavior is why Europeans always say “loud Americans”. We are loud and may overstep in our friendliness because most of the time we are genuinely interested in others lives. It can be off putting, but I know here in Texas, we typically just want everyone to feel comfortable and make human connections

Also in the more interior cities and smaller towns, people are genuinely excited to meet someone from the UK. I would expect you would get a very warm reception ❤️

I mean this as nicely as possible. But sometimes Europeans seem to want to fight for an award for who can be more closed off and cold. Like what’s the point? You may make someone’s day by holding a door. Saying hello. You never know what people are going through and I’ve never understood the point of being rude
