@drkopelman: Alopecia Areata: What You Need to Know Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition that causes sudden, smooth patches of hair loss on the scalp, beard, eyebrows, or other areas of the body. The hair follicles are still alive, which means regrowth is possible, especially when the condition is diagnosed and treated early. Treatment may include steroid injections, topical medications, oral therapies, or newer immune-targeting treatments depending on the severity and location of the hair loss. The most important step is confirming the diagnosis and creating a treatment plan tailored to you. 📍 New York City & Palm Beach 📞 (212) 470-4076 🌐 kopelmanhair.com #AlopeciaAreata #PatchyHairLoss #HairLossTreatment #HairDoctor #KopelmanHair

I was given dermovate ointment to use, my ferritin level is really low which I’m shedding more hair. I can see baby hair la growing but still got no hair in middle. Should I be thinking about injections now. Or wait it out a bit while I take the iron tablets?

Finasteride and dutasteride are medications you’ll hear recommended ALL the time for hair loss… but here’s the thing.
They’re primarily studied in men, and the evidence for women is nowhere near as strong.
There are some studies showing potential benefits for certain women, but there are also studies showing little to no benefit and overall, there just isn’t the same level of evidence we have for men.
So when someone tells you, like this guy “Just take finasteride” or “Dutasteride will grow your hair back” please don’t blindly believe it.
Female hair loss is complicated. There are different causes, and what works for one person might do absolutely nothing for another.
Do your bloodwork. Find out WHY you’re losing your hair. Get the right diagnosis. Then look at your treatment options.
Don’t just throw medication at the problem and hope for the best.

I had the injections and it worked but then it just got new spots. Then the dr gave me more injections and I got dents in my scalp. Then things settled again and then started losing patches again. What do I do now?
