Splitting tips would NEVER work in a hair salon. Restaurant sometimes. If the servers had access to all tabs and an help out each table, that's the only way splitting tips would work. It'll never work in a hair salon cause someone will always be doing the majority of the work which tends to be unfair. If I ever hear that my hair stylist is splitting tips I will be like "hey girl what's you Venmo" 😂

Worked at a restaurant where we “tip split” but in the end I just never got tips. Ended up with a 2k check in the mail years after because the owner got “ audited “. Stg I will never do that again

I will never get tipping culture. In my country, the only place you tip is in restaurants. Literally nowhere else, and it’s not even expected at the restaurants

Tips should be optional, apart from in USA hospitality for reasons we know. So they will be received for exceptional service. If you’re then splitting them amongst a whole team, where is the incentive to personally go above & beyond.

Tip splitting makes sense in workplaces where everyone does a part in someone's experience/service. When a customer is only interacting with ONE staff member for the entire time, it does NOT make sense. 🍻
