Yes but they don’t say how many people died making that bridge a lot of people died as a lot of people buried in cement as well

The Toll for the bridge was 20 cents, I remember having to hand it to someone, then as the years went on you would throw it into like a bucket, us kids would fight about who was throwing the money in

My dad (who was an electrical engineer but DIDN’T work on the Bridge) had a copy of the file of the collapse’s investigation. If I remember rightly he said some supporting bolts were removed and shouldn’t have been. Wish I had read the report, I don’t know what happened to it and Dad’s gone so can’t ask him.

My uncle was one of the workers building the bridge. He was one of the lucky ones that survived.

My partner’s uncle lost his life building that project in 1970. He left behind a wife and two young kids. From what the family has always said, they received compensation of up to $150k. A heartbreaking reminder of the people and families behind these projects.

my grandmother was working in an office building that had a view of the bridge, she said she saw the thing come crashing down. She still remembers that day clearly.

Why did it have to be 58 metres high, because it had to out do Sydney Harbour Bridge at 54 metres high, the Yarra does not even have the water depth of Sydney Harbour at low tide and that’s why we call those who design things like that phucking dipsticks 🥴🤪

I remember when it collapsed, I was 5 1/2, but it was all over the news and newspapers, all the adults were talking about it, I think my mum knew someone or knew someone who knew someone who died, she died in 1975 and being so young when it happened I can’t confirm but there was definitely a lot of conversations about it and it made me scared to use it. I think in my lifetime I’ve been on it less than a handful of times and that’s the way I like it.. it’s the first disaster I remember..
