Everyone misinterprets their usage of the word negro. I’ve talked to many Argentinians and they all say that word is a word of endearment and affection. Everyone calls each other that as a cute nickname. Most commonly used is “negrita/o” which also shows that it is used affectionately. Many have stated family, specifically parents or older relatives calling them “mi negra/o”. Like how one would say “mi corazón”, “mija/o” “mi chiquito/a” etc. it has nothing to do with skin tone or classism there. Atleast not for the majority of modern day argentines. Just wanted to clear that up!

He has native Argentinian blood not Subsaharan African. He was more “tan” than white Argentinians but not black at all. His admixture is mixed with the natives that look like that:

Negro is a term of endearment. It’s not supposed to be offensive and it’s not just Argentina, if you were to watch the show one day at a time, they’re a Cuban family, and they mentioned the same thing

Tell me again how you know nothing of our lingo. I call my husband “negri” and “gordi” …he is a skinny, white man. These are terms of endearment. I’m not signaling that I think he’s black or fat. And there wouldn’t be anything wrong with it if he were.

Argentina is probably more “ European “ than most European nations today . Many Argentinians today would be shocked if they visited London. Paris or Amsterdam . The Argentinian team was the “ Whitest “ at the just - ended World Cup tournament 😂
