As someone who has steadily moved to bigger towns/cities over the last couple years, it really do be like that. Small town = not a lot of queer events/spaces. Try to find out if there is something like a queer organization for the county that might hold monthly events maybe? Or, as you said, be the change you want to see in the world. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🤩

Our rural library has D&D meetups along with book & hobby groups that attract alt people. Maybe yours is compensating for a lack of social spaces too.
