The Supreme Court of Canada made a decision about the Kirpan. It’s Multani v. Commission scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys (2006) - see here: https://decisions.scc-csc.ca/scc-csc/scc-csc/en/item/15/index.do The decision basically states absolute bans on Kirpan are not allowed and are a human rights violation but specially states that the Kirpan must be concealed and in its sheath. Those two requirements must be met.
