My mom was an abusive narc. She started ruining my clothes on purpose. I did 2 things. Bought new ones on her dime and wore the ruined stuff around her friends and casually mentioned she washed them. She stopped shortly after.

This is why the FIRST TIME my husband ruined a load of laundry I took his debit card and told him I was going to fix his mistake. I went and bought a new wardrobe. He was livid but I told him, mistakes have consequences. I told you NOT to put that in the wash with ANYTHING else and you did anyways. I shouldn't be punished for your incompetence. The consequence ended up being financial this time deal with it. Hitting his pockets means he NEVER made that mistake again. Speak to them in their language.

had an asshole ex try this, I'm not his mother. he ruined a dress I was going to wear to his mother's birthday dinner. this dress was brand new never warn in my closet dry clean only. he "did laundry" took it and washed it ruining it. I wore it to his mother's birthday anyway when asked I told the truth. his mother was pissed. she came over forv6 months making him relearn how to do laundry, dishes, how to vacuum clean a bathroom, mop the floor after watching him being treated like a child, I left him.
