I worked a catering gig for the government once and when the night was over there was just one big charcuterie board left over that we were about to hoe into in the kitchen. It was just staff left. Then the wife of one of the attendees snuck her way back and asked to take it home and we had to give it to her. She took the whole thing. I’ll never forget her face 🔫

When I was in fine catering, the end of the night (especially after buffet events), was the highlight of the job. My first taste of caviar, eating and THEN learning about foie gras, having actually safe beef tartare… it was the bougie of my 20s

One of my favorite restaurant memories is standing over an ice machine with a bunch of catering services as we absolutely destroyed a $500 charcuterie tray that took me hours to prepare, no one at the event touched 😭😂

I used to be a helper for a caterer and she’d tell me at the end of the night that whatever the guests didn’t eat, I’d be able to take it home in a to go container. I miss it. FREE FOOD

My step aunts wedding l went to in 2022 had a all you can eat poutine buffet. you bet your ahh l had three damn plates because only around 40 people ate some out of like 200+ people! The caters that were working loved the feast of leftovers

I was a bartender/sometimes server for super fancy events in University and the leftovers were literally the best part! Knowing I was going to get to go eat an amazing spread that the rich people barely touched made cleaning up go so much faster!

I worked at a country club and we would work events for the wives specifically and we always got to eat the fancy stuff because they just drank wine and never ate. It was great.

ugh. this is fine - what's not fine is the event staff in the comments who eat the leftover wedding cake. As a bride who paid HUNDREDS of dollars for a cake, I would expect it to be saved until next day pickup. not the greedy staff in the back to eat it all 🙄

retirement party for a regular, Diane, no one touched the 2 jars of caviar. Diane said go grab them. she bought us a bottle of wine and we each ate a full jar of $150 each
