Social studies standards in public schools should teach critical thinking and facts! Here in Texas they are adding Christian religion ideology and whitewashing the facts of history to change social studies curriculum. It is frightening.

Bravo Robert! This clear dissertation identifies the basis for so many thoughts I have about how to determine which candidates best represent my positions on issues I see as critical to moving our country forward from the years long staganation in Congress, partisanship of SCOTUS & destruction of our country's reputation as an honest broker in the world caused by Trump's terrible policies. No one party or person can solve it all. How do we elect those who can outside of our corrupt political party system? We need a new way of choosing those who represent us in all levels of government - local, state and federal. How do we build the coalitions we need to move away from the hyperpartison mostly 2 party system we currently have to a system focused on electing those best equipped to solve the actual problems we are facing from an economic, humanitarian and environmental / ecological perspective?

Very well said. I have been trying to communicate this idea too. I see how people treat politics like loyalty to a sports franchise. Wearing the jersey of their favorite team. It seems they treat the elections as a sports event and apply the same expressions of loyalty like a FANatic. ‘My team must win even if they are inferior’. ‘I am happy my rival has lost…at any cost’
