And the “pirates and parrots” connection is from the famous 1883 book Treasure island( the title symbolizes laugh tale as the treasure island), in the book there was Long John Silver and his pet, Captain Flint. Long John Silver symbolizes Joyboy too much, Long John Silver is arguably the most famous fictional pirate ever, he features the four specific elements that people associate with pirates: the peg leg, the hook, the parrot and the eyepatch(oda has said that he wants to draw a pirate with a eyepatch in the last scenes so we could speculate that joyboy had a eyepatch and we will get his face reveal in the same scenes). Silvers rayleigh is a direct nod to “silver”. like Long John Silver, Rayleigh acts as an incredibly charismatic, older, retired mentor who guides the young protagonist and holds deep secrets to legendary hidden treasure. In the book the parrot Captain Flint is named after John’s dead former captain who originally hid the treasure. If joyboy’s “parrot” is actually imu, it means Joyboy’s greatest companion turned out to be the very tyrant who stole the world away from him and sat on the empty throne
