I think a super important thing to note is that in 6-8 months Shawna is going to go on maternity leave. Luke will use that to further wedge and isolate Laura from someone that sees Luke for what he really is.

I know exactly how this goes. Laura starts dating Luke, Shawna questions Laura for continuing to see the oaf, Laura counters with “why can’t you be happy I’ve found someone who makes me as happy as John makes you?” Then Shawna swallows the bad feelings to support her friend, the relationship continues & at every step Shawna has to keep quiet to keep her friend in her life as Luke sucks all colour, joy & spark from Laura until the present day when Shawna just can’t keep quiet anymore. Before this arc I thought Luke did a better job at hiding his toxicity. Sure Shawna thought he was a little rude in the beginning but I didn’t think he was THIS bad. Pushing boundaries, not taking the hint of a blocked number, and talking over Shawna in order to get with Laura is wild behavior for someone who just met them.
