@msbunnyteacher: If we were to stop treatment the doctors estimate he would have WEEKS to live. #healthinsurance #bluecrossblueshield #leukemialymphomasociety #strokecaregiver #cancercaregiver
I pay a fortune in income and obamacare taxes plus pay for my own health insurance. The system is a joke. That said, invoking the name of a cold blooded killer like Luigi is sick and unserious.

We NEED universal healthcare. People arguing against it honestly baffle me. No one should die because they can’t afford to live.

That’s the thing. It’s working how the CEOs want it to work. All profit Anne no support

Remember people. Insurance companies don’t make money. They steal it from you.

I’m sorry you and your dad are going through this. We need Medicare for All. Tell your elected representatives and anyone asking for your vote.

Have you tried calling his health insurance and asking for a case manager to be assigned? One for insurance and one through pharmacy?

I’m so sorry about your dad. The insurance rage is real. You have to battle cancer and insurance at the same time. 🎀

Insurance and health care simply should not be allowed to profit. It doesn’t even have to be government owned. Just return any excess to your customers in proportion to what they paid in.

The government already provides insurance free of change (kinda) for many groups of people i don’t get why we can just all decide universal is the right thing to do!!

My 61 year old mom died inpatient without ever having been given treatment, because treatment was only available outpatient. But she couldn’t be discharged because of symptoms that couldn’t be supported outside the hospital…and, outpatient oncology wouldn’t see her for months for an intake appointment. People have no idea how bad the healthcare system is until they live it.

Sorry about your dad. It must be very hard. I do wonder, though, why is the hospital discharging him. That is inconsistent with the notion that he's too sick to leave. Is he leaving AMA? Why are they not discharging to skilled nursing?

Something similar happened to my dad, he was septic and needed a specific kind of antibiotic, he needed to be discharged to a rehab facility but the insurance wouldn’t pay for the antibiotics if he was put into a rehab facility. They would only pay if he discharged home. If discharged home the out of pocket for his meds was $5000 in the rehab they were $20,000. So he went home, two days later he was dead. They want us to die!

My family has been dealing with these issues since I was a child, I’m 30 now and it’s only getting worse but more people are waking up to it. Unfortunately it has been this way for decades.

It’s ridiculous. I had patients when I was a hospital social worker that needed nursing home level care, but would have to change the type of chemo they received becuase of cost and how payments work to the skilled nursing facilities.
