There was a time when I didn't know how to show up for myself in a relationship. Having the maturity that I have now about myself, not only as a trans person, but as a woman, I'm now in a place where I expect to be loved. Michael comes to the table with a lot of love, and I'm able to accept that love now, too. Michael: You asked for that early on, in a certain way. You told me that you really wanted a safe space. We had to go through some stuff to find it, and I think it fell into place when I understood what a safe space was and how to provide it. You know, the weight of the world was on her shoulders. There were just times she'd come to see me and she was feeling all of that, and the weight of being an elder in the trans community, and the- and the, the awful- What people like Lisa... *sniffles* have to tolerate... it is so [bleep] wrong and unfair. Lisa: When the rest of the world is kind of dehumanizing us, I have people in my life, with Michael kind of standing at the top of that right now, who help to remind me I am valued and loved.
