Na de 1-0-zege op Argentinië in de WK-finale barstten supporters uit in gejuich en applaus. Op beelden is te zien hoe Palestijnen samen feestvieren en zo, ondanks de voortdurende genocide en de zware omstandigheden, even een moment van vreugde beleven. De massale steun voor Spanje is niet toevallig. Het land heeft zich de afgelopen jaren nadrukkelijk uitgesproken voor de rechten van het Palestijnse volk en erkende in 2024 officieel de Palestijnse staat. Voor veel Palestijnen staat Spanje daardoor symbool voor internationale steun en solidariteit, waardoor de wereldtitel ook in Palestina als een bijzondere overwinning werd gevierd.
