@amonhaa: Hugh Gwyn (a white man) was the FIRST person in the United States to own a Black man as a slave FOR LIFE. It was not Anthony Johnson. Stop with the historical revisionism. Every time American chattel slavery is discussed, historically illiterate bigots come out of their caves with the same right-wing propaganda phrase "But the first legal slave owner in America was actually a Black man!" All they do is lie and try to rewrite literal history that can be proven. They deliberately take ONE civil lawsuit from 1654 entirely out of context to absolve the white colonial state of guilt. They use the Anthony Johnson myth to push a manufactured delusion because their cognitive dissonance won't allow them to admit that the white legal system had already engineered the biopolitics of race-based, lifetime chattel slavery 14 years prior. This is how the epistemology of ignorance works. They have to suppress the evidence.
