In September 2015, while Mark was lying in bed at her flat in Bristol, Wallace poured the corrosive liquid over him, leaving him with catastrophic, life-changing injuries. Mark spent more than a year receiving treatment before travelling to Belgium, where his request for assisted death was approved because of his unbearable physical and psychological suffering. Wallace was later cleared of murder and manslaughter but convicted of throwing a corrosive substance with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. She received a life sentence with a minimum term of 12 years.
