I believe we were a matriarchal society, where women appraise men, and choose a partner who would provide the best genetics for their children's survival. In addition to breeding, the men would also have been hunters and protectors, usually just outside the village in roaming groups, whilst the women lived inside the village together raising children, animals and either primitive farming or gathering, preparing food, socialising, educating, and developing high level social and communication skills. This is exactly why I think women are attracted to traditional roles, thinking they want to be a housewife but actually their real desire is to be surrounded by women, children and animals, and doing domestic work as collaborators, without the oppression of men, which characterises traditional roles now. It also would have offered them safety, being separated from the men who are naturally predatory when idle. Men too, prefer the company of men, 'going out with the boys' as they would have, hunting, fighting, and just coming back periodically to mate with either one or several partners. Women were always nurturers, educators, collaborators, healers, gatherers, artists. Men were always hunters, warmongers, athletes, builders, travellers, competitors. And they certainly didnt belong together.

Well according to the manosphere, we have been doing the picking. They claim they have been losing out to 6'4", six figure men. When in reality, it's the patriarchy that sold them that. They have a lot of unlearning to do.

I’m a 40something man with a pretty small and selective dating pool. I’m not tall. I’m not rich. But I am smart, funny, well-rounded, a good communicator, and capable of taking care of myself. I have NEVER had trouble dating. Has it been slow sometimes? Sure. But I’m not getting this idea that women are unapproachable. Hell, if you’re just not a creep, I think approaching women is easier than ever.

It seems in nature, the female of the species usually does the picking that is why the males are more attractive and do ritualist of dance to attract the female. And she decides. We’ve just all been programmed for so long that we were just grown children that had babies. Remember the saying, barefoot and pregnant. That’s what the patriarch wanted.

I don’t think the basic idea of the female choosing ever actually disappeared. Men present themselves and the woman still chooses. But now women are stopping because the men are not leveling up. Hence the male loneliness “epidemic”.
