I was taken in the middle of the night by two “goons” as we called them and for six hours they did not speak to me after of course asking every question you can imagine. They dropped me off at Blue Ride theraputic wilderness, I had a very similar experience. We hiked 13 miles every day and slept on the sides of the mountains in ga under a tarp, I woke up soaked from rain water and had centipedes on my body every morning. My boots that I was issued were completely destroyed by the end of it with no tread and were separated at the sole after hiking over 600 miles I was told. I have very loving parents that help me in so many ways, I for the life of me cannot truly forgive them for sending me there. It’s a shared experience amongst those who went and no one truly gets it unless you went through it.

Holy shit I went to second nature. I’m so sorry you went through this. I was in the adult group, but it was an extremely degrading and dehumanizing experience. The “letter of accountability” was the horrible, it still affects my family relationships to this day.

They give you two wool blankets and a tarp with weekly food packs? Mine was called “Sunrise Leadership Academy.” My own family tried to say I was crazy. I was 16 and raised Mormon. I didn’t want to go to church and that’s why they sent me away. I’m sorry for anyone who had to do this type of stuff.

Child blaming. Whenever there is a "troubled teen" I swear to God I never blame the child. My mind goes straight to the parents and how they caused it. These places are straight up abuse and persecution. I NEVER subscribe to child blaming. (I went through something similar)
