Her parents were the reason she’s dead. She was diagnosed by physicians with epilepsy and epileptic psychosis and instead of allowing her to get treatment and take medication they said she was possessed.

as a psych resident, this story makes me so sad. i’ve seen patients have the same behaviors as hers. she was most likely in a catatonic state, which is manageable with proper treatment

I had a friend with epilepsy. People with the condition are known to be more spiritual, to see more visions, it’s a side effect of the condition. My assumption is she was hallucinating religious visions because she was being subjected to religious abuse and her brain was trying to rationalize it. A good chance she also fully believed she was possessed. This poor girl needed the help of modern medicine-

I would say that a modern-day psychologist/psychiatrist should investigate this case and perhaps it will be proven that Emily she wasn't possessed but had mental problems/psychotic episodes... yes, religion can bring you to this point of religious psychosis! 🥺😓
