Dude I love Warhammer so much but there’s so much to it and once you actually get to know about it, it just makes you said cause death/chaos corruption is pretty much an inevitability you can’t fight them, you can’t run from them, you can’t side with it(without being horribly disfigured), and sometimes you can’t even die from it without being turned into a servitor or chaos spawn or one of the other many fates.

Corpse starch, even for the poorer citizens of the Imperium, is usually only distributed as a last resort food source. Guardsmen only resort to it when supply lines are nonexistent (or their fight started without supply lines in the first place) etc. Nutri-sticks are the most common "peasant" food you'll find in most places. Bland, awful texture, but hey there's protein and calories so shut up and chew.

Theoretically if you were hungry enough you could eat orks.... they are sentient mushrooms after all but their connection to the warp might be an issue

Most people just eat pretty regular food. It’ll usually be really low quality, but it’s still just food. There are entire planets, devoted to agriculture. Sometimes that is in the form of big algae farms, but other times it’s miles and miles and miles and miles of corn and wheat and other equivalent grain product products. Stuff like corpse starch is only really common for the lower dregs in hive cities and SOME guard rations.

Corpse starch isn’t the normal ration for Imperial citizens/Guardsman, it’s more like a last resort meal when supplies get disrupted.

they do not turn corpses into anything,they grow stuff ON corpses and you eat that.

The way I see it corpse starch can’t really be a regular ration because it’s pretty much the least efficient food you can get
