For over 1,200 years, it has stood as a symbol of faith, wisdom, and devotion. Each year, during Vesak, Buddhism’s holiest celebration, thousands of monks and pilgrims gather at Borobudur to commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and passing of the Buddha. Walking clockwise around the temple’s sacred terraces in prayer and meditation before ascending toward its summit, they continue a centuries-old pilgrimage.
