The first time I bought tires after dad died I started crying when they asked me what size tires I needed. He always did that for me. All I could say is "my dad is dead." They found the tire size for me. Thanks, lady at Walmart tire center in Oklahoma

As a dad, I want to assure you that your dad gave you a goodbye gift with his last words to you. He didn't need to hear it back. He knew. He got to leave with closure. Your closure will come from saving that text, printing it and keeping that little piece of paper folded up with you at all times, and opening it up to read it and feel it when times are tough.

I'm sorry about your dad. At the scene of my motorcycle accident, a stranger found my phone, had me unlock it, called my daughter to tell her what happened, and handed me the phone to tell her what I honestly thought would be my last time. I laid back down on the ground and was at total peace. Another stranger found an extension cord in the trunk of his car for a tourniquet and now I get to tell her I love her everyday! which for that, I'm grateful.
