ORRRRR how bout when lab lies about losing the sample and someone else from lab (usually the lab supervisor) finally admits they lost it and have now located it after hours or searching and stalling. Very rare but happens.

An OR nurse threatened my license and my job over a missing coag tube. We tore the lab up looking for it. When I called back to ask if she was sure that it had been sent, lo and behold it was still in the tube system. Mind you, I had 2 small babies at home that my job and my license were providing for. 🫠

One nurse brought us a specimen after he had already went home, and tried to have us run it... talkin about he found it in his pocket when he was changing out of his scrubs so he drove back to the hospital 😒

had this dumbass nurse recollected gas samples and was adamant and kept saying she sent it to lab all the time and didn't wanna walk them down personally. so we ask what station number they're sending it to... they be sending it to cathlab the whole time 🙄

When I call about a missing specimen I know I immediately become the #1 suspect. I’m like can we check around first and then it magically comes up the tube station 5 seconds later 😭

Literally had an ICU nurse scream at us last night, demanded we tell her all the chemistry specimens that were sent in the last 30 minutes, all for it to come down the tube station an hour later.

That’s why we made them bring it down and sign it in out specimen log with patient name, date, time who brought it and then we checked them for labels with time date and then we signed the book it was received. Nipped that in the bud. They didn’t mind bringing them down cause they went out to smoke before going back to the floor.

Just today I nurse swore she sent an ABG “oh so yall lost my sample” no but I do have two ABGs for the same patient in the same half hour did you mislabel the sample “no of course not I double checked” are your initials MC? “Yeah…” ok you labeled it wrong.

even worse is being a phleb, DEFINITELY sending Stat labs down, but then never getting spun or run because the boomer who works desk in the lab just left them in the tube station for 2 hours, and lab didn't know that's where they were (checked the racks, centrifuges, every other damn thing). so I gotta physically go down to the lab, like I don't have more stats to draw to do the goddamn processor's job

That happened to me…two nurses were swearing on everything that was holy they sent it. Later another nurse strolls up to the pneumatic tube and sees it sitting there. He calls me in the lab and tells me he saw these samples just laying there. I was so 😡
