Hope remains as search and rescue efforts continue for 26 people — including 17 children and 9 adults — who have been missing since Saturday after travelling by boat between Kokopo and the Duke of York Islands. Rescue teams believe strong winds and sea currents may have carried the vessel or any survivors west towards New Ireland, with search operations now covering the West Coast of Namatanai, Djaul Island, surrounding islands, and waters stretching towards the Kavieng District. 🙏 A special thank you to Manolos Aviation, whose helicopter has joined the search, alongside emergency personnel, authorities, volunteers, and local communities working tirelessly across the region.
