I've been doing a savings island for years and didn't know. when I went to college I wanted a bank that wasn't my small town credit union. but I kept that old account and that's where my out of sight savings would go. now it's in a high yield one but I always like the separate bank/app so I couldnt see it/think about it

my fave tip is 3 bank accs. spending, bills and business. business is where everything comes in, spending is my flexible grocery/etc acc and bills is my rixed expenses account. I use my credit card like my debit card for the cash back and transfer from my spending to my bill/cc account so I always know how much I have left. all of my savings is in my PayPal account that I only use for lyft/Uber rides for the cash back there (its 4% for rideshare cash back vs 1.5% on my cc) and transfer money to PayPal thru debit as needed for rides. i round up to the nearest 5 for prices on rides when I add money and at the end of the week move that money to my savings in PayPal. the only times I use PayPal for anything else is when im spending in my savings categories (clothes. travel etc)
