For the same reason Lolita shouldn't have been made into a movie(for such an amazing book, those movies were HORRIFIC), Haunting Adeline will just be romantized to all hell, especially with the literacy crisis at an all time high that will increase domestic violence rates BECAUSE it's reaching a wider audience and not just those who read

The plot has been collectively lost among dark romance readers (and I say this as a dark romance reader & someone who has read the trash that is HA)

I think something important to note here, Antoinette never said what the mmc in ha did was okay and supported him, and has also stated how rape shouldn’t be romanticized from this book. In no way has she actually contradicted herself because she’s not defending the actions in the books, in turn she’s saying how supports the literature’s EXISTENCE because she doesn’t believe in censorship. She hasn’t even gotten to her review of the book or any actual thoughts other than the controversy around whether it should be a movie or not and people’s reactions. Two completely different convos here…in no way has she ever said ACOTAR shouldn’t exist because Rhys sexually assaulted Feyre, she criticized the character’s action, which she will most definitely do when she actually reviews haunting Adeline, instead of just defending it’s existence and how a movie and its viewers will not be responsible for men’s actions.

If the content offends you that much, you don’t have to go and see the movie. Also, for those of you saying that teens have access to it, movie theaters have curfews now for teens and kids. They can play the movie after said curfew time. Easy peezy.
