Needless to say that, till date, there is still “ orun oba ado” in Ile -Ife. This grove has been confirmed to be the location where the heads of the dead Obas of Benin and their queens were buried. This practice was premised on the belief that upon the death of an Oba, he must not be allowed to sleep outside his home. That practice was stopped in the later part of the 19th century. The Obas elect still come to this location before their enthronement in Benin for the necessary rituals. The Benin palace still comes there every year, till date

Oranmiyan a crowned prince from Ile-Ife went to Benin to become a king while his father , Oduduwa was ruling in ile-Ife , Oranmiyan later moved to OYO to be crowned a king again before he got called back to Ile-Ife to ascend his father’s thrown
