If you thought you voted for a different Prime Minister you misunderstood the voting system (addressing other comments). We elect MPs to represent us, those MPs always remain free to choose any party affiliation they wish. The person who leads the majority of MPs in the House of Commons (usually the leader of the party that most MPs belong to) becomes PM and is accountable to the House of Commons. Often non-elected party members have a say on who that leader is, but Andy Burnham has been chosen by the majority of serving MPs in the House of Commons, so that makes him more democratically elected than many previous PMs.

you vote for a party not a candidate, labour was voted in as kier starmer as the head, they can decide to change their leader and its legal as the party was voted in. you vote for specific mps which then overall represent the country, realistically you don’t vote for the pm at all just the mp u want representing ur constituency
