Jesus made all things: “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3). He has made nothing that was not first given to him. Jesus is before all things and holds them together (Colossians 1:16-17). He did not exist a hundred years ago. Jesus forgave sins and received worship. Jesus laid down his life and took it up again, and rose from the dead in front of witnesses. He will die, and he will stay in the grave until the resurrection, and then he will be judged by the very One he mocked. Do you see what has happened? The very test that proves he is not God is the test that Jesus passes. He was created. Christ is the Creator. He began. Christ is eternal. He will be raised by another. Christ raised himself. His challenge did not undermine the incarnation. It handed us the clearest way to explain it. So no, we are not scared to prove it, and it is proven. But here is the real weight of this. The eternal God stepped down into our world and took our nature, not so that men could pretend to be God, but so that God could rescue men. That is not a claim anyone should be mocking.
