I paid off my house, property taxes are $2300/year. $200/month is cheaper than $2000/month for rent plus my asset is still appreciating. Don’t listen to this guy.

Right… don’t buy any homes so him and his team can purchase them and make you pay a lifetime prescription (rent) and once they own everything and become a monopoly they will increase it far higher than owning your own home would cost. Their agenda “own nothing, rent everything” ya k. I’ll own my home, rent a section out and eventually owe nothing on the house and would you look at that, extra $$$ for retirement and pass it down generations.

Life is Good :
Every month, my mortgage payment reduces the balance owing, compared with rent where that money is just lost. Add to this the fact that any appreciation in the value of my primary residence is tax-free in Canada, makes homeownership look pretty good.
