he should have ask before where he can seat to the holder person and also seat after him. it is not only Japan, it is a matter of respect. Lot of people's forgot respect in this world. Thank you Japan for remembering this to the rest of the world

The oldest or superior person has the right for the most comfortable seat in a car, a restaurant etc. In this case watching the lane is much more convenient than facing the wall.

y’all please do your research before commenting, im pretty sure based on research and asking japanese friends with this video. The video is basically telling you, you can’t just come in japanese restaurants and sit wherever, if you’re welcomed in, you STILL have to wait for the worker to show you where you can be seated. The worker saying “How old are you” is another way of saying “where are your manners?”. And he got frustrated because the foreigner or the person didn’t understand. He should’ve stood up said sorry and asked where to be seated.
