Funny thing about those little name tags. We put them on when we walk into a room full of strangers. Write our name across the front, stick it on our shirt, and hope somebody remembers who we are. But there’s something beautiful about that blank space. Long before we had a title, a reputation, or anything to show for ourselves, God already knew our name. Think about that for a minute. We spend so much of our lives introducing ourselves. Trying to find our place. Sometimes trying to prove we deserve one. And somewhere along the way, we can start believing our worth depends on how the world sees us. But Isaiah 43:1 tells a different story. “I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.” God spoke those words to Israel, reminding His people that even in uncertain times, they had not been forgotten. They belonged to Him. And there’s something wonderfully reassuring about that kind of faithfulness. You don’t have to be the loudest person in the room. You don’t have to have the biggest name, the fanciest title, or a long list of accomplishments. And maybe that’s where our own faith comes in. Believing that the God who knows our name is worth trusting with the parts of our story nobody else knows. The worries we carry quietly. The prayers we haven’t seen answered. The things we’re still trying to figure out. Because faith isn’t just believing God knows who we are. It’s trusting Him with who we are, even when life isn’t turning out the way we imagined. And you certainly don’t have to spend your whole life trying to shine brightly enough for God to notice you. He knew your name before the world ever learned to say it. Maybe that’s worth remembering the next time you find yourself wondering whether you matter. The world may need an introduction. God never did. And perhaps the most beautiful part of faith is realizing you don’t have to make a name for yourself to be known by the One who matters. Isaiah 43:1 🌿 Peace from the porch today.
