Here are 3 Steps To Productive 1:1 Meetings With Your Reports. Having 1:1 meetings with your reports is a critical way of connecting with them, the work and their development. But a lot of leaders don’t do it because it’s a lot of work and it just feels like a random status meeting. So I want to offer you three steps to having productive status meetings with your reports that don’t require a lot of work from you. Hi, I’m Mel - I’m an exec coach for pre-executives who want to be better leaders in their career. If that’s you - then make sure you give me a follow. Ok, here are the three steps; STEP 1: Create a consistent framework for every meeting. As an example. The meeting is 45 min every two weeks and we always cover three things; Top 3 things you need my support on, update on your reports development progress and 10 min at the end for you to give feedback or offer actionables, etc. STEP 2: Now that you have the framework, communicate it to everyone on your team so everyone consistently knows what the expectation is, and STEP 3: Now that everyone knows the expectations, delegate the responsibility of the meeting to your report. They need to book the meetings, they create the agenda based on the framework and they do the follow up. These three steps make the meetings easy to manage for you, they are predictable and productive and offer your reports an opportunity to manage up. It’s a win, win, win all around. #leadershiptok #leadership #bealeader #leadershipskills #executivecoach #corporatelife #successincorporate #peoplemanagement
