As an accountant ai always thought I shouldn’t, but then covid happened and I now have a wrist, hand and ankle tattoo. Your body. Own it!

As long as good at your job, it should not matter about tattoos or piercings as long as they not offensive or rude (and can’t be covered if are)

I think it’s so outdated! That being said when I started getting tattoos I chose places that weren’t so visible out of the fear of being judged, which looking back is so sad! I have 2 nose piercings though so I was wondering whether the judgement was the same? Don’t want to part ways with them 🥲

You could have no tattoos and be a bad lawyer, or be head to toe and be a great one! They don’t relate to the quality of your work

A lawyer I work with hates tattoo’s and told me that she grew up thinking only criminals got them. The workplace is very different now though - I work with CTO’s with tattoos and all sorts.

its usually the dinosaurs verging on retirement that consider it an issue. rarely partners - billing and client feedback is more important

Theres a guy in my firm who is covered head to toe in tats and he is a very successful conveyancing lawyer, always getting awards both internally and externally and a pretty great guy. Hopefully times are changing!

I never understood why tattoos, piercings or hair colour have any effect on your job? People should be allowed to look any way they like. It doesn’t make a difference to the way you work

Sadly I don’t think its just law, I’m a graphic designer and I still feel judged for my tattoos… I just think I look cool AF

Currently studying law, I have fairly noticeable scars on my arms. Would it be better if I covered them up with tattoos, considering the connotations of this type of scaring?

I’m at a top 10 firm and I happily walk around with my tattoos on show. Been here over 5 years and nobody has ever said a word to be about them

I mean as a lawyer with tattoos, I think client's would someone with a Batman tattoo representing them, shows a dedication to justice.

As a divorce lawyer I used to hate it but now I get it, you’re required to be in a full suit / jacket anyway so I no longer mind it. Thankfully most of my clients are ok with it too! Totally agree it’s outdated though

It’s important for a barrister not to have tattoos especially when conducting jury advocacy, to avoid any risk of unnecessary bias being formed against your client because of the way you may appear. This is one of reasons behind wigs, gowns and court dress.

I haven’t had anyone tell me directly to cover them up but I tend to do it anyway unless it’s a Friday and I might flash some leg lol - I also have red hair and nose piercings so there isn’t much hiding it. London corporate firm too surprisingly

I dont see how tattoos could make you any less capable of your job, regardless of the profession. also, when im old, majority of grandparents at the school gates picking up their grandchildren, will be tattooed. makes me no less a person

I have very many tattoos...I have to cover them which in this heat has been a killer given that they go up to my neck and down to my ankles 😅
