@jayaein_: pov: “stop dreaming, heeseung.” you said it once again as he followed you toward your classroom with that familiar grin on his face. the grin that somehow never disappeared no matter how many times you rejected him. heeseung placed a hand dramatically over his chest. ”how can i stop dreaming when my future wife is walking right in front of me?” you immediately stopped walking, then slowly turned around. “future what?” heeseung looked completely serious. “wife.” you stared and he just stared back. a few students passing by laughed after overhearing the conversation. meanwhile, you simply rolled your eyes and continued walking. “you’re unbelievable.” heeseung quickly caught up beside you “thank you.” you groaned. every single day he was like this. if you wore a new hairstyle, he’d notice. if you answered a question in class, he’d clap dramatically. if you got a good score, he’d somehow make it about himself. “my future wife is smart.” “heeseung.” “yes?” “be quiet.” he’d smile. then continue talking. somehow even louder. it had been going on for months. heeseung liked you and everybody knew. including you. except… you never took it seriously. how could you? heeseung smiled too much. he also joked too much and always teases you. everything felt like a game to him. sometimes you wondered if he even knew when he was being serious anymore. because no matter how cold or uninterested you acted, he always returned the next day exactly the same. same smile, same confidence, and same ridiculous flirting. sometimes you even found yourself wondering if he genuinely liked you or if he simply enjoyed bothering you. which was why you never allowed yourself to think too deeply about it. it was easier that way. especially because a small part of you had started looking forward to his presence. you’d never admit that out loud, but there were mornings when he arrived late and the classroom felt strangely quieter. days when he wasn’t around because of school activities and you found yourself looking toward the door without realizing it. you blamed habit. nothing else. unfortunately, your classmates had other plans. it happened after school one afternoon. most students had already gone home. you stayed behind to finish organizing notes for an upcoming project. heeseung, unfortunately, was also there. which meant your peaceful study session immediately became impossible. he sat two seats away from you, spinning a pen between his fingers, and watching you. you didn’t even need to look up to know. you could feel it. finally, after five minutes, you sighed. “why are you staring?” “because you’re pretty.” you immediately regretted asking. heeseung smiled. “see? you asked.” “i hate talking to you.” “that’s okay. i love talking to you.” you threw an eraser at him. he caught it effortlessly, looking far too proud of himself. before you could threaten him again, laughter suddenly echoed outside the classroom. then—click. both of you froze. then another laugh followed from the hallway. your eyes widened. “wait.” immediately, you rushed toward the door, pulling the handle. nothing happened. you tried again, still nothing. the door was locked from the outside. your classmates were still laughing somewhere down the hallway. you couldn’t believe it. “they locked us in.” heeseung leaned comfortably against a desk. “wow.” you turned around. “wow?” “they’re really rooting for me.” you grabbed another eraser. he immediately raised both hands. “okay, okay.” for the next several minutes, you tried everything, but nothing worked. eventually, your classmates finally answered one yell from you. we’ll come back later. have fun. you wanted to scream while heeseung looked delighted. which somehow made everything worse. after nearly half an hour, frustration finally disappeared. mostly because there wasn’t anything else you could do. with a sigh, you returned to your seat. heeseung quietly sat beside you, surprisingly close.
