Anyone receiving government assistance should be drug screened regularly. And food assistance should be heavily regulated ex. ( No, Soda, sweets, energy drinks, candy etc)

I watched friends and family abuse food stamps growing up. Buying junk and struggling at the end of the month. Or like a lot of households that get stamps, there’s a spouse that isn’t listed at the address who works so the stamps get sold for .75-.50 on the dollar for cash to buy cigarettes, alcohol, or drugs…

Problem is, when it comes to ebt, they don’t discern the difference between able bodied and disabled. I paid into the system for 30+ years. Now I’m disabled and need assistance. If I want a soda I should be able to have a soda.

They did pay though, they paid into a system and in most cases are still paying into a system. The idea people on snap have never paid into the system is wrong in over 90% of cases.

my take. what if you have a full time job, and pay taxes, but still can't afford groceries on your own so you get snap benefits. Who gets to choose then? in my experience, there are a lot of ppl in that exact situation.

I think theres a compromise to be had. maybe a cap, like 10% of whatever your benefit amount is can be soda/candy/junk versus an all or nothing approach. that may little Timmy gets a birthday cake, but were still incentiving better choices.

Another argument....there are work requirements for most on snap. So top with the damn argument about them being non tax payers! I paid taxes for almost the ENTIRE time i was on snap.
