@timeoutwithjosh: The response I promised to my last video about relationships. The whole point of the video was missed completely. And that was the point of the video. #dating #datingadvice #relationships #single #Relationship
I’ve been called a man hating feminist by men when I speak up for woman or say something about what some men do. Yet, I’m called a pick me by woman when i do the same for men. So I am very middle of the road. I call myself an equal accountability holder. I see both sides always. What I find, is most people respond from and through their past and their experiences. They are not wrong, their perceptions are just biased towards themselves. Both sides say “well they do to” and “it goes both ways”. I see such hate coming from both sides. As coaches we need to be able to see that. It’s not just one side or the other. It’s all. Just like when two people try to fight to be right, instead of fighting the problem. We have a problem and we are not figuring it, we are still blaming the other. I can see why you said what you did in that video, because that was likely your experience. It’s not right or wrong, it’s just what you have been through.

When I watched the first video embarrassingly enough I thought where is he going with this? What is the purpose or the message with this video. As a woman I could not agree with you more. I am in a freshly new relationship and going into this new relationship I did a lot of inner work on me as my thought was "there has to be a pattern that either I am not realizing I am doing or maybe I do know that I am doing it but do not realize the message it is presenting to the other party." For me I feel that I found that I need to improve my communication. To actually listen even when my feelings are hurt and so want that acknowledgement that I am hurt. Listen first, then discuss which brings a mutual resolution for both of you. Treat the other person with respect, pray together and know God is first in your relationship, and give the other person the grace, patience, understanding that you also want. We all have relationships that did not work, left some scars, let those go you can't go forward when you're stuck in the past. Thank you for your message.

Josh I truly appreciate your videos. I myself have always tried my utmost best in relationships. Not to be a a partner that "it's my way or the highway" but "this is us" truly. And work thru the struggles.

I don't understand what's happened to couples these days. it should be so easy. my grandparents were married 71 years with never a cross word spoken between them.

A relationship thrives with communication. It’s like watering a garden. If you water it and take care of it and pull the weeds out, you will have such beautiful growth. If it’s ignored and the leaves not checked on and handled gently it bares no fruit

in general if the mentality of any of the individuals in the relationship are coming at an issue with ill give 50% if you give 50% and if you ask for more thats not fair then its doomed. our grandparents got together with the mentality of im giving my all every day both sides so both sides would carry each other on the days whichever side didnt have 100% to give. so when someone has an issue and brings it up you cant get defensive and start measuring who is giving or getting more. thats why our generation is failing. just my thoughts.

It's not necessarily that the point was missed, you have created a safe space where we feel we can be open and honest about our experiences.

It’s not just about communication, it’s about listening to understand where your partner is coming from, it’s acknowledging the hurtful behavior and actively working on fixing it, it’s both people putting in the work not just one person, it’s validating your partners feelings, sending hugs to you

I stayed and tried to make my marriage work but he wasn’t interested. I poured my heart and soul into him and our marriage but the bottom line is he didn’t want to heal from the past but relive it every single time he drank alcohol.

I listened to the whole video & I agree with you 💯. I know for the first year of our 3 yr relationship I was the one with the problem responding the wrong way. Once it was pointed out to me, I worked on how I communicated. I started telling him that his feelings, emotions & thoughts were valid & I would ask why. So what do you do when the tables are turned & he makes you feel invalid and gets mad when you ask questions about why he feels the way he does

Thank you for explaining. As someone who was married for 32 years and fought for the marriage everyday until I couldn’t any longer, this is something I learned. In the current relationship I’m in, I’ve made that change. I’ve worked to create a place where he feels comfortable saying what he feels or sharing his honest viewpoint. You see, I know what it’s like not to be listened to and I don’t want anyone to feel that same way. When a marriage ends I see most that blame the other party. In my case, I looked inward at what I put into the cause of the demise. There’s always something to learn. Thank you for teaching in your quiet way.

straight, I did not see your other vid. so with that being said ...I'm commenting on this only. Your comments on the comments are interesting in that people jump on commenting without thought or care.
in many cases, both parties feel not heard because of previous relationships and/or how they were raised.
society as a whole, dictated that being vulnerable or emotional is something that should be shutdown and to me that's not the case.
