even if he didn’t enjoy dancing, the other athletes making fun of him for it is what really gets me. there are SO many professional athletes (especially in sports like football, rugby, lacrosse, etc.) that benefit so much from taking ballet. it especially upsets me that he quit dancing because his friends were playing rugby, and they made him feel left out. he was dancing for claire and ended up enjoying it. he was literally dancing with claire because SHE felt left out. he dresses up with claire because SHE felt left out. he enjoyed these things so much because he was able to comfort and make claire happy. before lizzie, claire didn’t have any other girls around. lizzie didn’t enjoy dancing or dressing up, so gibsie continued to do those things with her. he is THE most considerate character with THE biggest heart and he’s overlooked so much that it physically makes me sick.
