@acoustic_fantasuoka: UPDATE; Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, has arrived at the Accra High Court as the court is expected to decide today, Monday, July 20, whether to deliver judgment in the alleged illegal mining case against him. The defence, led by lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea, has filed an application asking the court to suspend the judgment, arguing that a constitutional interpretation case on the matter is currently pending before the Supreme Court. The lawyer has also informed the court that he is out of the country and is expected to return on Wednesday, July 22. The High Court will first determine whether to proceed with the judgment or grant the defence's request for an adjournment. Chairman Wontumi, through his company Akonta Mining, is facing charges over alleged illegal mining activities at Samreboi in the Western Region. He has denied all the allegations.
