I often hop between desktop in person and remote desktop. In Windows case, RDP is super nice as you can make use of multiple monitors and its fairly convenient. in Linux it's XRDP but if you start a sessiok, you can't hop back into physical or remote once physical is active. Rustdesk is a workaround except it doesn't work with Wayland, and also annoyance like forced to pick which display to share (KDE Plasma) which only makes it harder to remote into the box, plus login screen is broken if using Wayland via Rustdesk

this has also been bugging me, I've spent ages trying to get my remote desktop to work, and I kind of got it working but not well enough for it to be usable... do you think wayland will be 'fixed' anytime soon?

I feel this one. I'm on Fedora KDE as well and enjoy it but I find wayland works better for some of my stuff that I care about but that security has been messing with my remote stuff.

I got tired of trying to find a decent remote method. Now I use ssh for most CLI things, and NoMachine for a graphical method (local LAN only).

for me sunshine and moonlight work great after some tweaking to connect to both cachyos and bazite for me both kde. rust desk is my backup but you can always ssh in to restart things if needed but after getting it down it works flawlessy for me even with tailscale when im out

I used kde built in rdp client for years on kubuntu. it was around 12.04lts or 14.04 lts time... Maybe it got worse??

One of the huge issues I've come across since dabbling full time in Linux about a year ago is that Remote Desktop doesn't work in a useful way. I've found proprietary 3rd party remote tools. But this was 1 thing I never expected to be a problem. Yet, there it is. I thought Remote Desktop was just tone of those fundamental high end computing things that would just work with something the internet basically runs on.

RDP is the only reason I'm still on X11. Wayland is rather impressive, but unless it's built in by the desktop environment, RDP is one of the final holdouts.

look at flat pack stuff and you can get flatseal, there's a bunch of settings you can change with flat pack versions of the apps which may fix your problem
