It's because this is an Event. You've probably built up a trauma response to Events that you knew were coming. Now the major stressor is out of your life, but your body still clocks the incoming Event and hasn't gotten the memo. Once you have a few of these under your belt it will get easier. ((hugs))

I miss layaway. I would go at the beginning of summer to pick out most of what they would need for the start of the year and by the time school started it would be paid off, and then I could start the process all over for winter and Christmas.

My kids are older now, college and high school, and I always buy new sneakers, and the supplies they need, but I don’t buy much in the way of clothes. The weather here hasn’t turned yet, they’re still wearing the same thing they were two months ago. There’s no need.

I always found nice school clothes at yard sales in the “rich” neighborhoods 😁 haircuts can wait or be spaced out. Also, organizations like RAM can provide school supplies

My sister in law with 1 kid always goes on vacation the beginning of august and for YEARS she’d ask me to babysit her kid! Like girl I got 4 kids in school August is pure hell!!!!

My husband and I are definitely stressing for our middle child going back, she got told she can’t participate in marching band and volleyball due to contracting Lyme disease, we are 4 weeks in, 6 days on medication. I keep telling myself she needed a break from her school activities. But she has so many side effects of having Lyme disease, she feels like other students are going to make fun of her. She has the spots and face paralysis. You got this momma your not alone, do one step at a time 🧡

I’m a long time single parent. If I ask for help, dad tells me he’ll just raise the kids I can’t support. Just remember that EVERYTHING is figureoutable! They have a happy mom, the first need is met!

I used to stress about that stuff too, but I realized that I can continue buying that stuff even after school starts. It gets too overwhelming and financially draining to try to squeeze it all in to a month or two. You’re so right, too - it WILL be just fine. 😊 Enjoy your babies.
